SHANGHAI, Nov 7 (SMM) – Global demand for aluminium next year will find strong support from the emerging market, such as South African countries, while the driving force from top consumer China may be sliding down, said Ron Knapp, Secretary-General of International Aluminium Institute in London.
Construction and transportation sectors will continue to be the key drivers behind aluminium consumption in China in 2020, Knapp said in an exclusive interview with SMM at the SMM London Metals Seminar last week.
Knapp expected to see a continuation of growth in aluminium demand in 2020. He also highlighted the role of consumer goods and innovative technology in promoting demand for the metal used in transport and packaging.
Talking about the ongoing US-China trade conflict, Knapp said it affected not only the two nations but all countries around the world given the integrated supply chain.
He hoped the trade disputes could be resolved soon and bring the global trade back onto the normal track.
